苹果公司向注册地为克里米亚的开发者发去了邮件，通知即时终止同克里米亚开发者的合作关系，做出终止合作的理由是美国政府在2014年12月19日公布的一项针对俄罗斯政府的制裁协议禁止双方合作。
俄罗斯和乌克兰政府因为克里米亚归属问题处于对峙阶段，美国等西方政权认定俄罗斯派兵入驻克里米亚属于侵略乌克兰的行为，随后开展了大规模的针对俄罗斯政府的经济制裁措施，其中包括禁止美国公民投资克里米亚地区。(小峰)
